1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Rock Egg (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Rock Egg is an English-learning application that lets you create and study documents, vocabulary, and dictation, and practice with automatically generated quizzes. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service.

4. AI-generated content and automated answer checking

Quizzes, questions, and answer checking in Rock Egg are produced by artificial-intelligence systems, including third-party and self-hosted language models. This automatically generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or biased, and automated grading of your answers may be wrong.

AI-generated content is provided for educational practice only, on an "as is" basis, and is not a substitute for professional, academic, or authoritative guidance. You should independently verify anything important and should not rely on the Service's output as a definitive source. Rock Egg is not liable for decisions made in reliance on AI-generated content or automated grading.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the documents, text, and other material you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). You grant Rock Egg a non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit Your Content as needed to operate the Service — including sending it to AI providers to generate questions and check answers. You represent that you have the rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe others' rights or violate any law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
• Upload content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit;
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; or
• Use the Service to build a competing product from our data.

7. Subscriptions

Rock Egg offers a free tier with weekly usage limits and a paid Pro plan ($6/month) with unlimited quizzes, subject to a fair-use monthly cap. Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period and then revert to the free tier. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

8. How we calculate your usage

We only count the actions that call our AI models. Reading and organising your documents, dictation practice, saved vocabulary, and text-to-speech are never metered — they are available without limit on both tiers. The metered actions are:

• Generating a word quiz.
• Generating a batch of questions from a document.
• Generating a document quiz.

On the free tier, each metered action has its own weekly allowance — 12 word quizzes, 6 document question-batches, and 6 document quizzes per week. These allowances reset every 7 days at 00:00 UTC (Monday). On the Pro tier, the individual weekly limits are replaced by a single, generous monthly fair-use cap shared across all metered actions, which resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC).

Each metered request counts as one unit against the relevant allowance when it is made. If a request fails because of an error on our side, it is refunded and does not count; requests that you cancel or that complete successfully do count. We may adjust these limits over time, and any material change will be reflected on this page.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Stripe (payments), email delivery providers, and AI providers. Your use of the Service may be subject to those parties' terms, and we are not responsible for their services.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rock Egg and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
